Marcy B. Greene

Marcy B. Greene was born in Dayton, Ohio, and grew up in Tucson, Arizona. Prior to her career as an artist, she worked as a writer and has published four books of poetry. Marcy now channels her love of poetry into painting, expressing the same emotions through the sensual colors and texture of the paint. “Making art is a mysterious journey…have fun, no judgments, no mistakes, be patient.” She enjoys Abstract, Modern, and Contemporary art and draws inspiration from the paintings of Marc Chagall, Jacqui Beck, Natalie Goldberg, and Georgia O'Keeffe. Marcy's studio faces the forest, allowing her to observe hawks, swallows, foxes, and vultures – all influencing her subject matter. Her preferred materials include oil paint for its textural quality and pastel for its pigment, though she frequently uses acrylics and mixes different media. She hopes her paintings render joy, playfulness, and creative honesty to her viewers. She works and lives in Ashland, Oregon.
