Rebecca Tallulah

Rebecca Tallulah was born in Berkeley, California. Though she studied ceramics and metal sculpture at the California State University, East Bay, it wasn't until her retirement that she began to create art again with the help of local artists Tee Corinne and Keith Johnson. Rebecca is fascinated with abstract impressionism and the way in which colors and shapes engage one's imagination. Living on a farm and daily observation of animal life and nature also play an important role in Rebecca's work: her everyday life is frequently her subject matter. She is equally interested in seeing the world through her grandchildren's eyes and tries to incorporate some of their ideas in her paintings. Rebecca's main medium is acrylics, preferred for its intensity of color and ease, though she occasionally uses pastels, charcoal, pen, and ink. Her guiding principle is that an artist needs to create first of all for themselves, and not for others. She lives and works in Ashland, Oregon.
